One of the earliest incarnations of this song, dedicated to 'The Buzzer', a shortwave radio station that emits a monotonous buzzing sound across the globe.
We were changing as a band by the time we got round to coming up with this, we'd lost a permanent drummer (for the nth time) and were writing but without any rehearsals, just pure studio creations, sometimes separately, sometimes together and around a theme. UBV-76 was very much a fascination of mine (Nick) at the time, the fucking weird buzzer, it's clandestine nature, unknown origins, just a proper WEIRD thing. Plus if you go listen to it, a very droney, synthy, noise. With us moving towards heavy use of synths, I brought this idea of using the buzzer as the backing track to the studio and laying shit on top of it. We eventually mixed the original noise so far into the background that you can only hear it in certain places/if at all. But the entire tempo, time signature and weird back and forth metering of the beat of the track still sits on that framework of the grinding electronic noise of the buzzer.
This track is also testament to the very excellent drumming/percussive mind of Joe Wood, who had a track put infront of him, with all it's back and forth hits, who then proceeded to pretty much free style a nigh on perfect take of breakbeat influenced jazz over the top, with very few edits.

It *should* (theoretically) sync up with the track if you play them at the same time.
